Section 24A
Provisions related to extension of time
:(1) The person arrested under this Act must be brought before the officer who hears the case for legal action within twelve and twenty-four hours of the time of travel.
(2) If the investigation is not completed within twenty-four hours in relation to the person deposed in accordance with sub-section (1), and it is deemed necessary to continue the investigation by keeping him in custody, the investigating officer shall bring him before the investigating officer and detain him only with the permission of the investigating officer. According to this, when asking for permission, the charge against the detained person, its basis, the reason why he should be detained and investigated and if his statement has been recorded, the use of the statement should be clearly mentioned.
(3) In the case of asking for permission to detain in accordance with sub-section (2), after looking at the related documents and considering whether the investigation is satisfactory or not, if it appears that the investigation is being carried out satisfactorily, he may grant permission to detain for a maximum of forty-five days once or several times.
